DON’T TRY TO HELP HEAL SOMEONE WHO LOVES BEING SICK

by | Jul 28, 2025 | MISCELLANY

Don’t try to help heal someone who loves being sick: To begin the healing process, we must delve within ourselves to find out if there is any unconscious resistance preventing us from accessing it.

This is not a task without difficulties; on the contrary, it requires great courage, strength, and honesty.

Above all, the most important thing is our willingness to confront the symptom to discover not only its message and meaning, but also the feelings and emotions that lie beneath those messages.

Behind an illness, there may be hidden reasons, motivations, and “positive” side effects that provide us with a reward and keep us from healing.

Some people prefer to resort to medication or even surgery rather than confront and integrate their hatred or make a change in their lives.

Don’t try to help heal someone who loves being sick: Sometimes illness can be used as a means to obtain greater attention or affection.

It can also become an excellent excuse to escape from current responsibilities or demands, allowing us to enjoy the freedom it provides to do things that would be unthinkable in better health, such as going on vacation for a few days, visiting friends, etc.

Likewise, illness can become our companion, and we are unwilling to face the emptiness we might experience if it abandons us.

Similarly, we can use illness as a resource to blame someone for something they have done to us; it can even be a form of self-punishment.

If a person enjoys or finds some benefit in their illness or negative attitude, no matter how hard you try, they won’t change if they don’t want to.
