Defensive attitude towards life in the wound of BETRAYAL

by | Jan 8, 2026 | THE TASK OF THE SOUL

The wound of betrayal develops to combat the fear of betrayal, failure, and defeat.

He is a distrustful person who needs to always be in action, as he is afraid to let go and trust.

The individual with this wound does not love his essence, but the idea he has formed of himself.

He has created an image based on what he believes must be shown to attract the attention of others and lives attached to that image separate from his own identity.

This person lives in a permanent state of anxiety, believing that to survive they have to be perfect, making it impossible for them to recognize mistakes.

He, too, is not willing to accept any kind of criticism.

Questioning the behavior, conduct or opinion of a distrustful person can provoke a violent emotional reaction: he is perfect and he is always right.

In the same way, he can also go into depression if he perceives that his image has been stained or thinks that they have stopped loving him.

The individual with a betrayal wound lives with the obsession of proving their superiority over others.

Therefore, they always perform extraordinary feats and constantly compete to be the best and gain everyone’s love and approval.

He not only wants to be loved, his desire is always to be the favorite, the most loved and admired.

He can’t stand that someone is more loved than him.

That is why he is jealous and he spends it competing with anyone who can deprive him of the privilege of being the most loved.

A peculiar characteristic is that he uses love for purely selfish ends.

Has a strong dependence on the opinion of others.

The distrustful, unconsciously, is always asking for affective food and draws energy from all the people with whom he has a relationship.

But nothing is enough for him to feel recognized and loved, whatever he gets, it will never seem enough.

Somehow, it must be recognized that behind the wound of betrayal hides the wound of abandonment that is found in all distrustful people and the dependence and dissatisfaction that they feel is as a consequence of having suffered a conflict of abandonment prior to that of betrayal.

He maintains latent leadership qualities that, on many occasions, led by his enormous willpower, can lead to success and triumph, although this is not always the case.

The individual with a betrayal wound has an innate predisposition towards power and the desire to control and dominate others.

If he is truly in a position of power, he will abuse it to seek popularity and attract the admiration of all.

Lack of honesty and authenticity, he will do whatever it takes to obtain the recognition, admiration and affection of others.

As he has understood that life is a constant struggle in defense of what is fair, they accompany all of his actions with a strong dose of aggressiveness.

Such behavior makes him more vulnerable to attacks, so he feels more insecure if possible.

In any social circle, he will never go unnoticed; he will do everything possible to stand out, to attract attention, and to be seen and recognized by everyone. He is flattering, seductive, and a conqueror.

If he is a distrustful introvert, he will not be so vehement, but he will simply seduce and attract attention because of his charm and discretion.

He seeks his own approval from others; however, he repudiates and manipulates them without consideration, with absolute absence of guilt.

He is governed by a dualistic view of the world: good or bad, and spends his life fighting to prove that he is good, and his battles are always aimed at winning and feeling like one.

For the unconscious, classifying it as bad is synonymous with death.

The individual with the apparent wound of betrayal appears to be a self-confident person, but possesses a deep feeling of inferiority and, for this reason, questions his decisions and actions.

He loves to talk about himself, relate his experiences, his adventures, to convey how special and interesting he is and how passionate his life is.

He has difficulties when making decisions, especially when the decision involves the danger of losing something, since, in this way, he ceases to exercise control over it.

If, on the other hand, he has the situation under control, he will not hesitate for a moment to make quick and daring decisions.
