SCAPHOID BONE, emotional and spiritual meaning

by | Feb 19, 2026 | Diseases of the MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM

The scaphoid bone is related to control, work, money, or the desire to hold on to/let go of someone or something.

It is associated with emotional conflicts of devaluation, powerlessness, and a lack of flexibility in concrete actions, especially those related to giving, receiving, taking, or holding.

A fracture or pain can indicate “I can’t hold on to this” or “I feel useless to perform this task.”

The biological meaning of the scaphoid is found in its name: “Scapho” means “boat.”

It is associated with the boat that in ancient Egypt transported the dead to the other side.

It is the bone that represents “journeys” in all their forms.

Traveling, moving, relocating, flying by plane, train, car, subway—in short, making a movement.

When this bone is affected, it speaks to a devaluation due to not being able to take a real trip (vacation, travel) or a symbolic trip (astral journey, drug trip, emotional journey)… in addition to a conflict related to work.

Furthermore, it can be related to “promotions” and “demotions” in work situations.

When my scaphoid bone is affected, it speaks to a feeling of devaluation related to not being able to break free, to get away, to escape my rut, my problems, my space, my home, my job, or what I’m doing.

Similarly, discomfort can manifest if I have trouble leaving a place or, conversely, if I feel forced to leave.

It also indicates that I feel devalued for working “so far away,” for requiring a long commute, etc.

I don’t feel capable of moving to another place, working somewhere else, getting a different position, achieving a promotion, etc.

On the other hand, I might also be experiencing a situation where society, my boss, or my company is forcing me to “move” to another place, and since I “can’t” say no, refuse, I feel compelled to obey.

I have a feeling it won’t go well, and it hurts to leave my family and friends, but I don’t feel capable of refusing.

What situation do I not want or can’t accept in my current life?

Do I feel undervalued in my ability to do or achieve something?

Am I being too rigid in my decisions?

What is it that I find painful to “let go of” or “hold on to”?

Since this is a key bone, if it’s affected, it suggests the need to loosen up rigid stances in the face of situations that I feel are unmanageable or unfair.
